I’m Amy Elizabeth Watson – an artist, illustrator, and photographer who loves bringing stories and ideas to life through images.
My creative work often explores imagination, wonder, and play, whether that’s through whimsical illustrations, dreamlike photography, or storytelling that sparks curiosity.
I’m a published children’s book illustrator, with my debut in Guttabug and the River Treasure, a project that brought together my love for art and the magic of childhood adventure.
By day, I’m Dr Amy Elizabeth Watson; an educator, lecturer, and academic in design and the visual arts. Teaching and mentoring the next generation of creatives is just as much a part of my practice as making art, and I’m passionate about building spaces where creativity can thrive.
At the heart of everything I do is a belief in the power of art to connect, inspire, and invite us to see the world a little differently.
I’m currently available for freelance photography & illustration work.
My journey as an artist and illustrator has always been driven by a love of storytelling and visual imagination. Alongside my creative practice, I completed a PhD exploring contemporary constructed photography and how artists create imaginary worlds that evoke wonder and emotion. This research continues to shape the way I approach both photography and illustration, with a focus on building atmosphere, narrative, and a sense of magic in every project. Whether I’m illustrating a children’s story, capturing moments through the lens, or teaching in the classroom, I bring together creativity, curiosity, and a deep understanding of how images connect with people.
Illustrator
As an illustrator, I work under the name Amy Elizabeth. Drawing has always been my way of telling stories, sparking imagination, and bringing little worlds to life. I love creating playful, whimsical imagery that connects with both children and adults. Whether it’s for a published story like Guttabug and the River Treasure or custom illustrations that celebrate the magic of everyday moments.
Photographer
My photography is rooted in curiosity and storytelling. I love capturing not just what something looks like, but the feeling behind it. The sense of wonder, beauty, or emotion that lingers in the moment. I create dreamy photographs that capture real-life stories, and my goal is always to make images that feel alive and meaningful.
